The theme of the art exhibition through the words of Art critic and Art historian Sri. Vijayakumar Menon " Any language can encode a cultural milieu in the form of a statement overtly or covertly. It has been a common practice to assert everything only with anthropocentric constructs keeping other beings and even their primary existence totally out of consideration. The maximum exploitation of nature to benefit only a few human beings is the beginning of total devastation. The 'environmental psyche' has no chance in the crony economic and social perspective of the new narrative. Seles K Babu, feeling great anguish over it creates a few paintings conversing obliquely with cultural patterns and social norms in a subdued tone of visual vocabulary.
Ignoring human forms perhaps deliberately in the works Seles Babu obviously depicts small beings, leafless creepers, embryos, labyrinthine lines of nest-like forms, thorny stems of trees suggesting an emaciated contemporary society. The use of an unromantic and anemic color scheme in the paintings encodes the subdued spirit of the society with poor people especially women and children with pale vacant life without actually showing them. This anguish is enhanced by the use of pallid colors to create an atmosphere to suggest the unpardonable hesitancy in addressing reality. Unlike many contemporary artists who use very vivid chromatic formula, she alludes to the present reality with forms and ironically 'undernourished ' colors. "
